Our Founder
Eddie Chu was born in Houston, Texas in 1983 and graduated from Rice University with a degree in Cognitive Sciences.
Shortly after graduating he learned of CFLs (compact fluorescent light bulbs), the tremendous amount of energy they save, and the impact they could have on the environment. Digging deeper, Eddie learned more about global warming and the impact greenhouse gasses are having on our planet and decided to do something about it.
In 2005 he started GreenLights USA with a mission to help raise U.S. public awareness and create a new standard for lighting that will significantly reduce pollution and save consumers untold millions in electricity bills.
Eddie heads up the GreenLights USA organization and is currently working hard on his public campaign to fulfill our mission.

GreenLights is a for-profit-doing-good company committed to making a positive impact on the environment through the sale of energy efficient products and through the promotion of environmental awareness.
Our society's current course of burning fossil fuels and increasing thelevel of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is leading to disastrous climate changes. Energy-saving compact fluorescent light bulbs have the potential to prevent as much as 106 billion pounds of pollution per year in the U.S.
CFLs have been available in the U.S. for over 20 years. We believe that, at thispoint, the missing ingredient in having them be the standard lightingsolution for the U.S. is public awareness.
For these reasons, we have chosen to promote the use of CFLs and sell them as our first product line, because doing something as simple as changing a light bulb has the potential to make a very large impact. In the near future we'll have an array of energy saving ideas and products to offer our clients.
Our business vision is to bring about a viable solution to the problem of global warming, and we intend to lead the way in transforming our country into a sustainable carbon-neutral society.

About: For-Profit-Doing-Good
How would the world be, if we turned our idea about how the for-profit sector acts on its head? What if every entrepreneur and businessman in the world were looking for ways to really make a positive difference?
For-profit-doing-good is the idea that a for-profit company can do good while making money and make money while doing good. We believe that the two motives can be synergistic rather than competitive. A for-profit company doing good will be energized and inspired to a level beyond what can be done simply for the sake of profits alone. A doing-good organization that operates at a profit can reinvest those profits back into doing more of the good thing that the organization does.
GreenLights is a for-profit-doing-good company that prevents pollution and makes money with every energy-efficient product we sell. We give some of our profits to other environmentally-minded organizations, and reinvest the rest back into selling more energy-efficient products, preventing more pollution, and doing more good in the world. We believe that the two synergistic motives are the basis of our success.
